DPE Briefing papers in Slovak language!

DPE are glad to announce briefing papers translations into Slovak. Andrea Fojtů, digital preservation specialist from the Charles University in Prague Computer Center, translated the briefing papers Preservation of Digital Audiovisual Content (by Richard Wright) and Digital Preservation and Open Access Archives (by Valdo Pasqui). Slovak language thus became eighth language of the DPE Briefing papers, besides English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Croatian and Czech.

New briefing paper: The PrestoSpace data model

New Briefing Paper about 'UMID – Unique Material Identifier' is available

Cristina Faria provided Portuguese translation of the paper on Automating semantic metadata extraction by Di Yunhyong Kim from HATII University in Glasgow.
Maria Teresa De Gregori translated the paper on Database Preservation into Italian. See list of all briefing paper translations.

DRAMBORA Auditor's Training Course in Rome (March 23rd 2009 - 25th 2009)

Based on practical research and developed jointly by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC)and DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE), the Digital Repository Audit Method Based on Risk Assessment (DRAMBORA) provides a methodology for self-assessment of digital preservation repositories.
The toolkit (http://www.repositoryaudit.eu), has been evaluated and applied across a diverse range of organisations, such as national libraries, scientific data centres and archives. DPE is organising a successful series of training courses to train new DRAMBORA auditors. The third of these will be held at the Ministry for Cultural Heritage, Rome, Italy, in March 2009. More Info

DPE publications in Czech language

DPE are glad to announce two more translations into Czech language. Thanks to Karel Škrle, from ICZ a. s. we have Czech versions of the briefing paper on The Uses of Metadata in Public Administration (Použití metadat ve veřejné správě) and the case study Digital preservation strategies in Public Administrations (Strategie uchovávání digitálních záznamů ve veřejném sektoru (PA): řešení potřeb PA)
